Below is a short slideshow of
my cat:
I
was born in Russia (the Soviet Union at the time). I immigrated to the
United States in 1982. Lived in beautiful Chicago
the first three years, then moved to Champaign-Urbana,
IL
where I worked at the University
of
Illinois Library for ten years. In 1995 I relocated to Madison, WI. I work at the University of Wisconsin Library.
In
1997
I
founded
the
University
of Wisconsin Russian Folk Orchestra.
I am
a musician (classical guitar and
orchestral conducting) and a
magician! You can watch my 4-minute show.
Speaking
of which: every year I go to the Abbott's Magic Get-Together
in Colon (yes,
that's right!), Michigan.
And,
the American
Museum of Magic is not far, in Marshall, MI.
Enough
about magic! I LOVE cats
and dogs! The one in the slideshow above is my beauty by the name of
Asya (after a Russian
writer Turgenev's character).
And,
I love traveling.
My favorite
destination is Montréal,
in
the
Province
of
Québec, in our great Northern neighbor, Canada. Cette ville est
vraiment incroyable!
* My
main piece of bread: I'm a
librarian
(and a darn good one,
mind
you!), specializing in Slavic Studies.
* My
real addictions: French language,
francophone culture (anything French, for that matter), music (Russian
folk
and other, mostly classical) and yes, MAGIC!!!

For many years I have been a member
of a very unique organization, BDAA
(Balalaika and Domra Association
of America).
*
And, speaking of which, in July 2005 I
organized the 27th
annual
BDAA convention here in Madison.
* I belong to IBM, the
International Brotherhood of Magicians.
* What else do
you need to know about
me? I'm a serious movie buff. Currently, I subscribe to Netflix and watch 3 or 4 films a
week.
